BY CAR
Probably the most
enjoyable way to explore France is by car – travel at your own pace and
stop as often or as little as you choose.
The roadway systems in
France are superb with a péage (tolled) motorway system running the entire
length from North to South, making for a hassle-free journey.
Obviously if you choose
not to take the motorways, you can take time to stop and visit some of the
many beautiful villages throughout your journey.
Petrol is cheaper in
France than in the UK and some other European countries, but be warned –
don’t run out of petrol on a Sunday as you will be hard-pressed to find a
service station open and if it is, it probably won’t accept foreign credit
or debit cards, so be sure to have plenty of cash on you.
N.B. most of the service
stations situated on the actual motorways are open 24/7.
Mazamet is positioned on
the N112 & D118 – part of a major road networks and situated between
Toulouse and Béziers as seen on our
map.
Ferries from the UK &
Ireland
If you are travelling from the United
Kingdom to France, you may choose to drive yourself, which will mean putting
your vehicle onto a ferry.
Ferrys to France depart from Dover, Portsmouth,
Hull, Poole & Plymouth.
Irish Ferries also make the journey from Ireland
to France.
BY TRAIN

to Mazamet by train, you will first have to take a train into Toulouse –

Please note that not all
trains in France are non-smoking, so be sure to check prior to travel.

stations are not always manned and payment is often only accepted with
coins (as opposed to notes) or with credit cards via ticket dispensing
machines.
